On Oct. 23 the Warren County Fiscal Court voted to authorize staff to advertise a request for proposals for a comprehensive review of jail operations and the facility. Court members said the review is prompted by structural issues, including a reported collapse of material under a concrete floor, and by ongoing overcrowding concerns.
The judge told the court the RFP will be a comprehensive review of the jail and its operations. “This will be a comprehensive review of the jail about some of the — you heard earlier about, a literal line underneath the concrete floor collapsing,” the judge said, noting the facility’s age and persistent overcrowding issues.
The measure (item 44) passed on a unanimous roll call after a motion by Esquire Aldridge and second by Esquire Williams. Officials said the RFP will examine structural needs and operational options and that the fiscal court is seeking proposals to inform short- and long-term planning.
The court did not set a public deadline for proposals during the meeting and did not select an evaluation committee; county staff said additional details will be provided as the RFP is drafted and advertised.
