Board proclaims October 2025 National Retirement Security Month and unveils employee training

The Kings County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 30 adopted a resolution declaring October 2025 National Retirement Security Month and directed human resources to provide employee education and outreach.
Human Resources Director Caroline Lees said the county has seen increased participation in its deferred-compensation program and wants to use October as an opportunity to promote retirement preparedness. HR analyst Neli Hernandez described a short online training that will be assigned to employees on Oct. 1 through the county’s NeoLearn platform; completion is voluntary and the training will be available through Nov. 3. HR said it will hold a raffle with five $10 Target gift cards to encourage participation.
Kings County Sheriff Dave Robinson spoke in support of the item and urged the county to consider strategies that address retiree healthcare costs and gaps that can make it difficult for long‑service employees to retire. HR said the resolution and the training carry no fiscal impact.
