General Manager Ron Browning told trustees the utility selected Badger Meter in February 2023 to upgrade from direct-read to automatic meter-reading equipment and that the program is replacing about 30,000 meters per year. “This agreement will enable us to continue buying the meters from Badger,” Browning said, and he told the trust the contract will run through fiscal year ’32.
The program began with a pilot year, Browning said, and the utility’s own crew is carrying out the replacements. Trustees sought no additional information and a motion to approve the master sales agreement passed.
Trust staff and Browning characterized the vote as an approval of the master purchase agreement only; no additional project budget changes or financing measures were proposed during the discussion. Browning said the multi-year plan remains on schedule to complete within about eight years from its 2023 start.
