Public works director reports multiple street and infrastructure projects nearing completion; committee receives update

Public works staff provided a capital-improvement program (CIP) status update to the Kenosha Board of Public Works, reporting progress on multiple street, stormwater and public-facility projects across the city.
The director said work would start on the 500-block alley at Frank's Diner and that 60 Seventh Street is under construction with utility and roadway work ongoing. The Green Bay Road corridor had a full closure for major work; Eighth Avenue was expected to reopen and the director described it as "bright and smooth." The Washington Road and 30th Avenue intersection project has progressed with large-diameter storm sewer and is expected to remain open to traffic through winter, though some temporary work could continue.
Staff clarified that the work on 20 Second Avenue this year was utility work and that the full roadway reconstruction will occur next year (referred to in staff remarks as segment 8). The director said the 16th Avenue storm-sewer work is about halfway done and several other neighborhood street projects were moving ahead.
Strawberry Creek improvements will include street trees and sidewalk in public areas; a pre-construction meeting was scheduled for the week of the committee meeting. Emerging Leaders and the city parking-lot repaving projects were wrapping up, and the director reported that temporary occupancy for the Kenosha Innovation Center was scheduled for the following Wednesday.
Committee members asked about winter construction; staff said the roadway would be opened and paved for winter but some final restoration work might remain. The committee moved to receive and file the CIP update; the motion passed after a second and recorded "aye" votes.
