The Kenosha Board of Public Works approved a first amendment extending the lease between the city and Kenosha Common Markets Incorporated (commonly called the Harbor Market) for five years.
City staff said the amendment is an extension of the current lease and that the only material change is a new requirement that the market make minimum annual donations to the museums. City staff described the donation schedule in the draft agreement but the transcript contains unclear numeric transcription for the year-by-year amounts; staff said the current minimum had been $3,000 and that recent years had exceeded that amount.
The city administrator (Morrissey, listed in the meeting record) told the committee the market is well-attended and has been a good organization to work with. A motion to approve the lease extension was made, seconded and the committee voted in favor; the chair voted "aye" and the motion passed on the committee floor.
Staff expects to finalize the lease amendment and place it in the city's contract records; the draft provided to the committee includes the donation schedule and staff asked for committee approval to proceed with the five-year extension.
