Council adopts Ordinance 19-25 to add last year's legislation to city code; awaits signatures

The Anderson Common Council on Aug. 14 approved Ordinance 19-25, an ordinance enacting and adopting supplements to the code of ordinances of the City of Anderson. The ordinance is a housekeeping action to incorporate legislation passed during the prior year into the printed code.
Assistant City Attorney Spencer Binge told the council the ordinance reflects the compilation and printing of ordinances that were passed previously and that the item is procedural: "It's all the legislation you guys passed last year... we supplement it and put it in the ordinance books," he said.
Councilors moved the ordinance through first, second and third readings at the meeting and voted to suspend rules to allow third-reading action. The council recorded roll-call approval and President Stevenson said Ordinance 19-25 passed and will await the signatures of the council president and the mayor.
Because the ordinance updates the code text to reflect prior council work, no new policy change or fiscal commitment was introduced by the item at the Aug. 14 meeting.
