Osage County commissioners approved Conditional Use Permit Z2504 for the McDowell property, authorizing placement of a nontraditional structure as an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) connected to the existing lagoon system.
Trisha Webb, land development director, said the application allows a nontraditional structure to be used as a residence on the property and that the existing residential unit will remain the primary residence while the nontraditional structure will serve as an accessory dwelling. Webb said the accessory unit will connect to the existing lagoon; if the accessory unit is later used as an Airbnb or rented, the owner would apply for required registration (transcript reference: “it will apply for its O9119”).
A commissioner moved and seconded the CUP; the motion carried and the chair signed Resolution Z2504 on the meeting record. Staff asked commissioners to sign the resolution and left space for signatures.
Why it matters: The permit allows a nontraditional dwelling type to be used on private property as an accessory unit subject to connection to existing onsite wastewater systems and to any registration or rental requirements noted in the staff presentation.
What to watch for next: staff asked that the signed resolution be returned to them for processing; any conditional requirements tied to the permit will be enforced through normal permitting and appraisal processes.
