Pitkin County commissioners on Sept. 10 approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Colorado Energy Office that will provide technical assistance to select vendors and complete investment‑grade energy audits of county facilities.
Michael Port, the county’s climate action analyst, described the MOU as part of the county’s climate action plan and said the Colorado Energy Office will help the county select vendors to perform audits and will provide other technical assistance at no cost. “We are presenting a resolution to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Colorado Energy Office for free technical assistance to complete an energy audit on our facilities,” Port said.
Port said the program will help the county prioritize energy‑efficiency projects and plan potential facility upgrades. The county approved the MOU in a second‑reading public hearing and the item will not require further county appropriation; staff said the audits will inform future capital planning.
