The Madison County Board of Commissioners took several final votes on administrative and financial items during the meeting. Key actions approved by voice vote or motion were:
- Resolution 2025-BC-R-16: Approved a resolution authorizing execution of a letter of intent to sell a county parcel (Parcel ID 48-08-36-100-025-019, 4.262 acres) to a purchaser for $42,000. The record notes the parcel has no conventional street address; the board authorized the county administrator and county attorney to carry out the sale process.
- Resolution 2025-BC-R-17: Authorized staff to offer two county parcels to abutting landowners under a streamlined process and to proceed toward transfer at a future meeting. The combined appraised value was noted in the record as $15,200 (the agenda text listed $72,000; the board record states the correct combined appraised value is $15,200). One parcel was appraised at $9,000; there are no permanent structures on either parcel.
- Opioid litigation settlement participation (Sandoz): The board accepted the county's share of a settlement with Sandoz in the nationwide opioid litigation in the amount of $174,977.31. County counsel said contingency attorneys will deduct their agreed percentage and that a portion of the county’s net proceeds will be restricted for opioid treatment and abatement programs, with the remainder available for county legal uses.
- Independent Administrative Service Agreement with Extra Duty Solutions (jury sequestration support): The board approved entering the agreement to secure off-duty law-enforcement personnel for jury sequestration duties in a capital case; the company will recruit and contract officers from other jurisdictions for 24-hour coverage and detail pay will be through the company’s contract rather than county payroll.
- Task Order 202502 with Commonwealth Engineers: Approved (see separate article) adding up to $105,000 for the next phases of the Scottsville sewer project (outreach, regulatory assistance, subsurface utility investigation).
- Employee holiday schedule 2026: The board adopted the county employee holiday schedule for 2026, maintaining the number of observed holidays at 18 for both essential and nonessential personnel as consistent with prior years.
- Routine approvals: Minutes from the July 16 meeting and claims were approved by voice vote.
Each motion carried by voice vote; the meeting record shows no roll-call tallies for these items.
