Madison County commissioners approved task order 202502 with Commonwealth Engineers to fund the next phases of the Scottsville sanitary sewer project.
County Engineer Jess told the board the additional work responds to discoveries made during initial project phases and includes public outreach, regulatory assistance with IDEM, and subsurface utility investigations such as potholing and surveying. The board was told the three added phases together total $105,000 under the existing contract and are hourly, not-to-exceed work; the county only pays for work actually performed.
Jess said a large portion of the increase covers radio advertising costs for required public meetings and that the outreach fund needs replenishing by roughly $20,000. The board approved the task order by voice vote.
Next steps: Commonwealth Engineers will proceed with the scoped investigations and outreach; staff will return to the board with any budget adjustments or contract amendments required by actual expenditures.
