South Fayette superintendent reports positive start to 2025-26 year; district rolls out ParentSquare

Superintendent Dr. Miller told the South Fayette Township School District committee of the whole on Aug. 19 that staff and faculty returned for training and orientation ahead of the 2025-26 school year and that the district expects a large kindergarten class.
Dr. Miller said the district welcomed staff back Aug. 14 and held multiple training sessions and orientations, including a ninth-grade orientation and recent meet-the-teacher events for kindergarten through fifth grade. He said the district will rely on its third-day enrollment count for the most accurate figure and noted the district is welcoming 234 kindergarteners the following day.
The superintendent announced the district has rolled out a new communication tool, ParentSquare, which he described as the district's primary means to communicate with families. Dr. Miller said, "ParentSquare will be a primary means to communicate information to our families," and added parents can select translation services and preferred time and mode of communication. He said the district will continue to use email but that ParentSquare will be emphasized for family messaging.
Dr. Miller also listed several upcoming events and staff acknowledgements: a senior spaghetti dinner on Sept. 12 open to the public (free to gold-card members), recognition of summer employees and building improvements, and gratitude to staff for preparing buildings and materials for students.
The superintendent's remarks preceded routine agenda business and votes taken later in the meeting. No public comments were offered during the meeting's public-comment periods.
