The Madison Finance Committee voted to recommend confirmation of Lydia McComas for city clerk and Jamie Acton for transit general manager, after both appointees gave brief introductions to the committee.
McComas, who told the committee she has seven years’ experience as an election administrator in Hennepin County, Minn., said she would bring a focus on “transparency, integrity and public service” to the city clerk’s office. Jamie Acton, who described about 15 years of public‑transportation experience including leadership roles in Anchorage and with the Federal Transit Administration, told the committee she looks forward to managing Metro’s operations and federal grant work.
Committee members asked no substantive questions after each introduction. Both nominations were moved, seconded and recorded as unanimous recommendations to the Common Council.
The committee recorded the recommendations as part of its consent‑agenda processing; each nominee will appear before the Common Council next for final confirmation.
The brief committee consideration followed the clerk’s normal confirmation procedure: the mayor presented each appointment, the nominee introduced themself, there was a motion to recommend confirmation, and the committee voted.
