Planning and Public Policy Committee elects Curtis Ford as vice chair, approves June minutes and holds executive session

The planning and public policy committee approved minutes from its June meeting, elected Curtis Ford as vice chair and then went into an executive session citing multiple sections of the Texas Government Code before returning to open session and adjourning at 10:20 a.m.

Committee business began with a voice vote to approve the minutes from the committee's June meeting. A committee member moved to approve the minutes, another member seconded, and the chair stated, “All in favor, say aye.” The chair then announced that the motion passed.

The committee then moved to elect a vice chair. The committee chair nominated Curtis Ford; the nomination was seconded and, after a voice vote, the chair congratulated Ford. "Congratulations," the chair said following the vote.

After the leadership vote, staff and guests were excused and the committee entered executive session. Director Witten read the statutory citations that the committee said authorized the closed session: sections 551.071, 551.072, 551.074, 551.076, 551.086 and 551.089 of the Texas Government Code and section 418.183. The committee recorded entering executive session at 9:04 a.m. and returning to open session at 10:20 a.m. The chair then asked if there were any further items; hearing none, the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
