Kenosha council approves ordinances, transfers and permits in unanimous session

Kenosha Common Council on Aug. 4 approved a series of ordinances, resolutions, contracts and license matters by unanimous roll call votes, many on second reading or by concurrence with committee recommendations.

The council voted 15-0 to repeal and recreate section 3.23 of the municipal code to align the city’s automatic fire sprinkler ordinance with state requirements, to allow future state changes to automatically align with the city code. The Fire Chief explained the rewrite is intended to keep local rules consistent with Wisconsin law.

Council members also voted 15-0 on a rezoning (H-1) to change properties at 182250 Third Street and 171050 Third Street from Institutional Park (IP) to General Residential (RG-2); on multiple finance resolutions to levy special charges for boarding and securing, trash and debris removal, weed cutting, property maintenance reinspection fees and building and zoning reinspection fees; and on capital program amendments shifting $50,000 to Strawberry Creek subdivision improvements and creating a $291,000 Kila parking lot project in TID 32.
