Blair County OKs conservation easement on 236-acre Bridal Family Partnership farm; county invests $145,000

The Blair County Commissioners voted Thursday to approve an agreement of sale for an agricultural conservation easement on 236.23 acres owned by the Bridal Family Partnership.
The county’s Ag Land Preservation Board presented the easement, which has a total appraised value of $488,996.10 plus about $10,000 in incidental costs. Blair County will contribute $145,000 from county Act 13 funds; the presentation said the county contribution this year included $125,000 from Act 13 funds and roughly $34,000 from Clean and Green rollback funds. The board’s presentation said the county share helped leverage roughly $383,000 in additional state funds.
Approving the easement will bring the county’s preserved-farm total to 65 farms and more than 9,556 acres, the board said.
A representative of the Ag Land Preservation Board requested the commissioners’ approval; commissioners moved to approve the agreement of sale and the motion passed by voice vote.
