During commission comments on Aug. 5, Ferron Planning and Zoning Commissioners discussed several enforcement and property-clarity items: an ongoing CAMS property survey and cleanup effort, repeated occurrences of unregistered vehicles and campers parked on city streets, and reports that a local property owner is marketing a subdivided lot without a planning clearance.
Staff said the county planning commission had initially approved a proposal at the CAMS site but county commissioners asked for a survey to reconcile discrepancies between tax notice acreage and assessor records. "They're in the process right now of trying to find someone to survey the property down there," Barb said. The commission and staff asked that established local surveyors be contacted and suggested coordinating with nearby surveyors to expedite the work.
Commissioners also raised repeated instances of unlicensed vehicles and long-term campers parked on city streets. Staff recommended sending warning letters and using towing where appropriate; commissioners asked staff to compile addresses for violations and begin enforcement steps.
Finally, commissioners discussed a property listed for sale where the listing described an additional half acre and an apparent subdivision of an existing parcel. Staff said Ferron ordinances require zoning clearance before a lot split is recognized locally and that the Emery County recorder's office does not check for planning clearance when recording deeds. The commission discussed outreach to the owner, identified in meeting discussion as Gil Bowden, and suggested staff or commissioners speak with him to explain local subdivision rules.
The commission did not take new formal actions during the comments but directed staff to: seek a surveyor for the CAMS property, send compliance letters for unregistered vehicles and campers, and follow up on the purported subdivision sale for clarification and possible enforcement.
