At its Aug. 6 meeting the Flower Mound Parks Board approved a set of consent and regular items. All recorded motions passed unanimously.
Highlights:
- Minutes: The board approved the minutes from the June 5, 2025 Parks Board meeting.
- Dallas Athletes Racing triathlon: The board approved a request to hold a sanctioned triathlon at the Community Activity Center and Giroux Park on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Staff said the CAC will be closed to the public during the event and the organizer will use the indoor pool, parking lot for transition, and local streets for the run and bike courses.
- CrossTimbers YMCA youth sports contract: The board recommended that the town manager consider a youth-sports contract with CrossTimbers YMCA to provide basketball and volleyball services from Sept. 1, 2025, through Aug. 31, 2026, with up to four additional one-year renewals. Staff noted the YMCA has provided youth sports in Flower Mound for decades and reported 2,140 participants in 2024 across programs.
- Forest Vista Elementary PTA sales during CAC rental: The board approved a PTA request allowing sales of memberships, T-shirts and other items during the PTA’s rental of the outdoor water park and indoor pool at the CAC on Aug. 9, 2025. Staff said the rental occurs outside normal CAC hours and attendance will be limited to invited students and families.
- Eden Ranch parkland recommendation: The board recommended that planning and zoning and town council accept 9.35 acres of parkland from the Eden Ranch development, collect park development fees totaling $233,184, and require dredging/refurbishing of the pond to town standards. Vote outcomes (as recorded in the meeting): - All motions passed unanimously. Board members recorded in roll calls included Chris Chastain, Susan Barela, Holly Royer (listed variously in the transcript), Ray Kenyon, Jennifer Marchevsky and Doug Graves.
