Daviess County Fiscal Court approved a series of routine consent items and competitive procurement awards Aug. 7, including meeting minutes, departmental claims, grant agreements, equipment purchases, a small change order on hydrant installations, and personnel actions.
The court approved the minutes of the July 25, 2025 meeting and all claims for county departments by voice vote.
Procurement and grant approvals the court recorded: - A memorandum of agreement with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Office of Homeland Security for a Law Enforcement Protection Program grant to purchase 30 body-armor vests for the Daviess County Detention Center; total grant amount $20,100. County staff said procurement will follow standard procedures and the jailer and detention staff reviewed the agreement. The court recorded a 5-voice affirmative on that item. - Change Order O9 for the bid to purchase 89 new fire hydrants: an added $4,249.18 to purchase three additional hydrant extension kits after deeper-than-anticipated utility lines were encountered; the cost is to be fully reimbursed by a Kentucky Infrastructure Authority grant/assistance agreement. - Award of bid 2526-01 for bulk 12-gauge shotgun ammunition to Indian Creek Shooting Center in the amount of $52,750; county staff said ammunition will be restocked for the gun club and costs will be recouped by sales. - Award of bid 2526-03 for one new front-end loader to Boyd Caterpillar, net amount $340,735.92, for the Grimes Avenue transfer station to replace an aging unit. - Award of bid 2526-04 for one new all-wheel-drive backhoe loader to Boyd Caterpillar, net amount $138,637.44, for the Grimes Avenue transfer station to replace an aging unit. - Award of bid 2526-07 for one used 40-ton articulated dump truck to Boyd Caterpillar in the amount of $349,000 for West Daviess County Landfill post-sale construction.
Personnel and human-resources approvals recorded: - Promotion of Cody Garce to engineer, effective Aug. 3, 2025. - Promotion of Brandon Abbey to engineer, effective Aug. 3, 2025. - Hire of Pete Lanham as service technician, effective Aug. 25, 2025.
Each of the procurement awards, change orders and personnel items was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting. County staff recommended all awards as the lowest and best evaluated bidders; where applicable, grant reimbursement sources were noted.
