Council advances renewal of Tiburon Tourism Business Improvement District for FY2026

The Tiburon Town Council on Aug. 6 held a public hearing and advanced a resolution to continue the Tiburon Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) assessments for fiscal year 2026.
Staff reported the district was formed under the Parking and Business Improvement Area Act of 1989 and that the district advisory board had approved its annual report on June 18. The TBID assessment is a 2% levy on gross room receipts at the town's two lodging establishments; staff told the council the assessed businesses had historically supported the program and are represented on the advisory board.
Under the statutory process established by the Act, the council must hold a hearing and accept protests. Town staff told the council no protests had been received as of the hearing date. The council then moved and seconded adoption of the continuing-assessment resolution; roll-call votes were recorded as yes by all members present and the resolution advanced.
Staff said the continuing-assessment resolution and the district's annual report are attached to the staff report and that the next steps would follow the standard process for levying and collecting the assessments in FY2026.
