Sewer department: force-main upgrade progressing; half funding secured, environmental reviews underway

The Town of Hooksett’s sewer department reported progress on the force-main project that will replace the line from the Martins Ferry pump station to the wastewater plant and said about half the anticipated funding has been secured.
At the meeting, the sewer department reported that the project remains active and that municipal and sewer-commission funding would combine to complete it, reflecting an earlier agreement to split costs 50/50. Staff said an archaeological survey has cleared the project area and a botanist is conducting fieldwork to check for rare plants; staff said findings to date permit moving ahead but that any botanical issues would require mitigation.
"We're still moving forward with it. We're still putting funding towards it. We did get funding for half the projects as we estimated it would be," a sewer department staff member said. The department said it expects to seek the town’s share at a future town vote or Town Council action depending on timing and noted work will continue to keep the project on schedule.
No formal decisions requiring committee action were taken at the meeting; staff presented the update and said they will continue coordination with regulatory reviews and town financing to complete the project.
