Board reviews student technology agreement, digital citizenship consent and revised medication form

Wilson County Schools staff presented two informational updates on July 21: a revised student technology-use and digital citizenship agreement and a redesigned medication authorization form.
On technology, staff said the district removed a prior requirement that laptops be returned in district-provided cases (the district no longer supplies cases) and instead asks that devices be kept in a laptop compartment of a backpack where possible. The agreement also clarifies that Wilson County Schools uses Google Workspace for Education; by signing the form parents consent to Google’s terms of service for student accounts. Staff said parents will sign the agreement through the parent portion of Infinite Campus and the district will provide support tables at open houses and a parent night to help with account setup.
District nurses and staff led a revision of the medication authorization form to collect more detailed information about medications administered at school. Board members asked whether the form leaves space to list allergies beyond the prefilled items; staff said they can add additional fields for non-medication allergies (for example, bees or peanut butter) and that the form is primarily an electronic field. Staff confirmed the nurses were directly involved in revamping the form to improve clarity on diagnosis, allergy information, medication, dosage, route and timing.
Both items were presented as informational updates; the board asked follow-up questions and staff noted they will make minor edits (adding space for additional allergy entries) before finalizing the form.
