Resident raises complaint about musty, discolored tap water after heavy rainfall

Roberts said the water came “straight out of the tap” and that he had pulled a sample about 20 minutes before speaking. “It’s musty, moldy smelling almost, like, almost like stagnant water,” Roberts said. He asked whether the town had experienced “any excess water up at the water plant” or made changes to treatment procedures.
Alderman Payne responded that she would notify a staff member named Alan and investigate. “I would talk to Alan about it. I’m gonna be honest with you. That rainfall yesterday added a lot of water,” Payne said, adding she would “text him this evening and let him know.” She also suggested residents check their taps and email the office if they saw similar issues.
No other members of the public spoke on the issue during the meeting’s first public comment period, and no formal action or vote on the water system was taken at the meeting.
