North Platte High FCCLA reports state and national awards, seeks fundraising to attend nationals

Students and their faculty advisors briefed the North Platte Public Schools Board of Education on Sept. 8 about the school's growing FCCLA chapter, competitive results at district, state and national levels, officer elections and fundraising to attend upcoming national conferences.
The chapter reported rapid growth since affiliating two years ago and described activities that included district leadership conferences at Mid Plains Community College and a fall conference at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). Officers elected for the 2025–26 school year are Emma Mashek (president), Rebecca Kanief (vice president) and Bella Hartwiger (secretary).
Competition and fundraising Students described district STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) projects and skill events that advanced chapter members to state competition in Lincoln. The group said three members qualified for nationals; the chapter reported that two students attended nationals this year and another student competed in a national skill event. At nationals in Orlando, Florida, students reported the following placings: a top‑10 finish (9th place) in a fashion design category and additional top‑30 competitive placements; the chapter said those students earned medals and recognition.
To fund national travel the chapter described multiple local fundraisers the students organized, including a Chick‑fil‑A night, a silent auction, bake-sale and merchandise sales; the students said their per‑person fundraising target was about $2,000 for each national delegate. They also said they plan to attend nationals in Washington, D.C., in 2026 and are expanding fundraising and volunteer activities this school year.
Why it matters Student-run career and leadership programs such as FCCLA provide experience in project design, event management and career-related skills, and the chapter asked the board to note the organization’s growth and community partnerships as it expands opportunities for students.
Ending Board members thanked the students and advisors for the report and publicized upcoming foundation fundraisers that will support student clubs, including FCCLA.
