Authority approves Garney contract to extend duct bank and ITS conduit along Interstate Drive

The East Bank Development Authority voted Aug. 26 to approve a construction contract with Garney to extend an underground duct bank and install ITS conduit along the full length of Interstate Drive.
Authority staff said the stadium construction already included portions of a duct bank and that extending the duct bank and adding ITS conduit would accelerate timing, reduce costs by piggybacking on existing work and provide infrastructure for communications providers and Metro ITS. The approved scope covers the full length of Interstate Drive; a second phase from Interstate Drive south toward the KBB Bridge will be competitively bid in coming weeks.
The contract was presented as time‑sensitive to support stadium opening and future East Bank infrastructure. A board member moved to approve the Garney contract; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
