County and CATA agree to subsidized rides for residents to Bellefonte county facilities

The Centre County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding with the Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) to provide transportation for residents without funding to three county facilities in the borough of Bellefonte: the Courthouse, the Willowbank Building and the new Community Services Building.
Under the agreement, eligible riders will pay $5 each way (a $10 round trip) when they have no alternative funding source; CATA will subsidize the balance based on its fare structure. The service is available to residents of CATA member municipalities; reservations are required and are typically made by calling the county transportation office at (814) 355-6807. County and CATA staff said there is no short-term cap on the program, though officials said they would monitor demand and could revisit the arrangement if costs became unexpectedly large.
