Planning staff summarizes 12 administrative determinations since April 2024; commission accepts report with questions

Planning staff presented a summary of administrative determinations made since April 2024 and asked the Planning Commission to accept the report.

Junior Planner Maiza Mazzini summarized the report and said 12 determinations were issued since the commission’s last update. “Since April 2024, a total of 12 determinations have been issued,” Mazzini said. She described the range of determinations as including facade modifications, interior alterations, minor additions such as solar shade structures and energy and fuel storage equipment, and operational adjustments to parking and circulation.

Commissioners asked for details on two items mentioned in the report. One commissioner asked about a refinement to the layout of a battery storage facility on the east side of Johnson Avenue; Mazzini said that after work on the site began the project team concluded some existing buildings could not be retained, those buildings were demolished, and refinements were made to the site’s fire-lane access. She identified the project as the SD Genie battery storage site north of a school and south of Jerome’s. Another question concerned a pizza restaurant that had previously received a conditional use permit for alcohol service and had relocated to an adjacent suite; Mazzini said the director processed that as a minor amendment, notices were sent, no responses were received, and the director’s determination was final.

Mazzini and another staff member (identified as Mr. Alvi in the meeting) told commissioners they were available to answer questions. Commissioners said they did not find anything overwhelming in the report and raised no objections. Staff said no additional staff communications were required that evening.

A commissioner asked whether a motion was needed to accept the report; staff replied it was not required. The meeting proceeded to other business and adjournment.
