The Yuma Union High School District governing board unanimously approved a slate of routine and action items at its regular meeting, including two proclamations, acceptance of donations, ratification of the district annual financial report and adoption of a new certificated-staff evaluation platform.
The board approved the consent agenda by voice vote without any member pulling items for separate discussion. The board then adopted two proclamations: one designating October 2025 as School Bus Safety Week and another designating the week of October 13–17, 2025, as National School Lunch Week. Ron Scheepers, director of transportation for the Yuma Schools Consortium, read the school-bus proclamation and outlined its purpose to promote safety awareness. Elena Hildred, executive director for student nutrition services, read the school-lunch proclamation.
The board accepted $41,317.87 in donations listed in the meeting packet; the superintendent’s staff reported the month’s total brings the year-to-date donations to $308,745.04.
The board also ratified the district’s Annual Financial Report (AFR) for the most recent fiscal year by roll call at the meeting. The ratification was recorded as unanimous: the roll call recorded four ayes and no nays. The AFR presentation included an overview of the district’s maintenance-and-operations and capital budgets, federal and state grant activity, food-service revenues and expenditures, and fund carryovers that will be used in next year’s budget planning.
Finally, the governing board approved adoption of a new evaluation platform for certificated staff, TeachBoost, beginning in the 2026–27 school year. Administrators said the platform is intended to align the district’s instructional framework with teacher observations and to provide a central hub for observations, feedback and professional-growth evidence.
