Board approves District 191 Language Access Plan required by state legislature

The Burnsville Public School District Board of Education unanimously approved a district Language Access Plan to centralize and make language resources accessible to families and staff.
Aaron Tinklenberg, the district’s director of communications, said the plan responds to a new state legislative requirement to ensure districts provide needed services for families whose primary language is not English. He said the plan includes resources for both parents and staff and will be posted on the district website after branding and editorial work.
“My recommendation is that the board of education approve the Burnsville and Savage Language Access Plan as presented,” Tinklenberg said.
Director Hulme moved the motion; Director Saxe (recorded in minutes as “Saksi”) seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Board materials provided the draft plan; district staff said they planned follow-up work to finalize branding and make the materials available online for families.
