Summary
Pueblo Memorial Airport director Greg Bedrosa updated the board on restored daily jet service via Denver Air Connection, recent air show and several FAA and city projects including ramp rehabilitation, T‑hangars, a potential $5 million terminal remodel and an FAA‑funded new control tower site.
Greg Bedrosa, director of Pueblo Memorial Airport, briefed the Colorado Division of Aeronautics board on airport operations and capital projects during the Pueblo meeting, reporting the return of daily jet service via Denver Air Connection and multiple FAA‑ and city‑funded improvements planned or underway.
“Denver Air Connection is our new essential air service provider,” Bedrosa said, describing daily round‑trip jet flights that reconnect Pueblo to Denver International Airport. He said the carrier has been responsive to the airport and has engaged in local marketing at recent community events.
Bedrosa listed several capital projects: a FAA/CDOT‑funded ramp rehabilitation area north of the control tower; T‑hangar construction and taxi‑lane improvements funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and recently approved by city council; and a longer‑term terminal improvement project for which Pueblo will again seek a roughly $5 million federal/state grant to remodel the facade, improve passenger flow, add a secure‑side restroom and improve concessions. Bedrosa said the city is prepared to use local funds if grant efforts are unsuccessful.
On air‑traffic control, Bedrosa said the FAA has identified a location south of the existing tower and intends to build a new, FAA‑funded tower roughly 200 feet tall on the site. The airport also hosted a recent air show headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds; Bedrosa said organizers will tighten promoter oversight in future events after local staff picked up responsibilities late in the event process.
Bedrosa thanked local partners including Freeman Jet Center (the airport’s primary FBO) and discussed community events and outreach conducted at the airport, including a well‑attended air show. He invited board members to an airport tour following the meeting.
The airport update was informational; no formal board action was requested.
