At its Oct. 20 meeting the Athens City Council took a series of administrative and budget actions alongside the public hearing on temporary housing shelters.
On third reading council approved Ordinance 85-25, which adds permitting requirements for dumpsters, moving pods and construction trailers on sidewalks and streets and requires temporary street/sidewalk closures to follow an approved traffic plan and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Council also adopted Ordinance 96-25, authorizing a $10,000 appropriation from the general fund to support the Imagination Library project administered by the Athens County Public Libraries.
