Trustees approve agenda and consent items; decline early-retirement buyouts

At its meeting, the Churchill County School District Board of Trustees took several routine actions: trustees unanimously approved the meeting agenda as posted and later approved the consent agenda with amendments to two regulatory items. Separately, the board voted unanimously not to approve early-retirement incentives for classified, licensed and other employees for the 2025–26 year.

Agenda adoption: Trustee McFadden moved to approve the agenda "as posted," seconded by Trustee Bullock; the board’s voice vote was unanimous.

Consent agenda: Trustees approved a multi-part consent package covering recommended personnel actions, vouchers, payroll, budget transfers, facility fund requests, policy and regulation reviews, and approvals for school fundraising and STEM CTE contributions. Trustees pulled Regulation 6.163 (American Indian Education procedures) for changes, then approved the consent items with recommended edits in a motion by Trustee Whitaker, seconded by Trustee McFadden; the vote was unanimous.

Early-retirement incentives: In a separate motion, trustees considered Policy 04/2011 early-retirement incentives. The board moved and voted to not approve early-retirement buyouts for classified, licensed and other employees for 2025–26, with the motion carried unanimously; trustees said buyouts would not make sense while staffing is thin.

Closed session: The board also moved into a closed session to discuss labor negotiations with the United Classified School Employees Association pursuant to NRS 288.22; the motion to enter closed session was made by Trustee McFadden, seconded by Trustee Gatto, and approved unanimously.
