Namaqua Elementary presents instructional overhaul after earning America's Healthiest Schools recognition

Namaqua Elementary administrators and teachers told the Thompson School District R-2J Board of Education on Sept. 17 that the school has moved into year two of implementing a ‘‘depth and complexity’’ instructional framework and is expanding social‑emotional learning (SEL) and sensory supports after recent statewide recognition.

The school's principal (name not specified in the meeting record) said Namaqua received the 2025 All‑Star award from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for meeting all nine health categories. The principal reported that Big Thompson, Centennial and Truscott elementary schools also received recognition on the Alliance list, but Namaqua was the only Colorado school to receive the All‑Star distinction.
