Delegate reports and events - CAMO: JT Steele said CAMO produced nearly 100 live events this year at the amateur level and planned further inspector/official training and a promoter summit before year-end. - United States Fight League (USFL): USFL reported four events since the last meeting with no serious injuries and asked the commission to consider an ambulance waiver policy for events within 30 minutes of a hospital and with ambulance response times under 15 minutes. - IKF (amateur Muay Thai): Tony Fossum said the IKF reported seven events in the last quarter, including four sellouts; he noted a California fighter (Keelan Weeks of Hercules) won an IKF-certified world title in a recent Nevada event and requested a commission certificate of acknowledgment. - WAKO/WAKO USA and other affiliate groups: Representatives said California continues to produce athletes for regional and international championships; officials and training remain active.
Inspector training and staffing Chief Inspector Mark Rollier described a recruitment and training push: two training sessions planned in September (site-specific inspector basics and a higher-level management/operations session). He emphasized the commission’s requirement that inspectors attend four hours of training every six months, noted a strong volunteer inspector cadre, and said Northern California recruitment remains a priority.
Other operational notes Executive Officer Andy Foster previewed an active fall event calendar (including title fights and multiple large shows), and staff said the commission is running “lean” and relies on inspectors and permanent intermittent staff to cover events across the state.
