The Abilene Development Board’s Airport Development Board heard updates on airport traffic, revenue and capital projects during its meeting, including passenger and parking revenue gains and progress on a terminal expansion model and an aircraft ramp project.
Airport staff told the board that August load factor was 76 percent, down from about 88 percent in the prior two months, but that monthly passenger counts were about 15 percent higher than August 2024 and year-to-date passenger traffic was about 14 percent higher than the same point last year. Parking revenue was reported up 17.42 percent for the month and 14.42 percent for the year; staff said 2024 was a record year and indicated 2025 appears likely to exceed that record.
The board was also given the Department of Transportation figures for May 2025, which staff said showed passenger traffic of 18,375 — a 19.3 percent increase over May 2024 — and a load factor of 84.1, up 9.4 percentage points…
