The Metropolitan Council approved multiple committee appointments and carried routine consent business at its meeting Aug. 13.
The Council appointed Astrid Benedetto and Marquis Knight as at-large members of the Equity Advisory Committee to staggered four-year terms; the motion to approve the appointments was moved by Council Member Pacheco and seconded by Council Member Osman and the motion carried.
The Council also approved 12 appointments to the Livable Communities Advisory Committee (LCAC) for the 2025'027 term. Council Member Lee moved the appointments and Council Member Morales seconded; the motion carried. Five of the recommended volunteers were reappointments: Stephanie Hawkinson, Erin Johnson, Nicole Klonowski, Valerie Coles and Matthew Ramadan. Council staff said candidates were selected based on expertise, geography and lived experience.
Earlier in the meeting the Council took the consent calendar, consisting of 11 items, and approved it by voice vote. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes for these votes.
The Equity Advisory Committee advises the Metropolitan Council on policies and practices to advance equity across the region; the LCAC provides technical review for the Livable Communities Demonstration Account, transit-oriented development and affordable homeownership grant programs administered under the Livable Communities Act.
