Rochester Hills council approves blanket purchase orders for uniforms, tree work, road sealing and stormwater device

The Rochester Hills City Council on Aug. 25 authorized four purchasing actions — all approved by voice vote — to fund uniforms, tree maintenance, additional road-sealing supplies and installation of a stormwater treatment device along the Auburn Road corridor.

Council approved a three-year blanket purchase order with Nye Uniform of Troy, Michigan, for fire department uniforms and accessories not to exceed $179,200 through Aug. 27, 2028. A city staff member who presented the item said the vendor “provide[s] all of our uniforms, day to day wear, jackets, boot wear, badges, things like that.” The council approved the motion (mover: Moreland; seconder: Neubauer) with no further discussion.

The council also renewed a blanket purchase order for tree maintenance services to CHOP of Grand Rapids, Michigan, in an amount not to exceed $239,600 through Oct. 31, 2026. A city staff presenter said the contract covers routine tree work for pedestrian pathways and road rights-of-way and emergency response. The motion was made by Vice President Carlock and seconded by Neubauer.

Council approved an increase to an existing blanket purchase order with Craftco Inc. of Chandler, Arizona, adding $25,000 for joint-sealant materials and melter applicators, bringing the not-to-exceed total to $137,680 through Dec. 31, 2025. City staff described the work as crack sealing that “extends the life of our roads and pathways.” The motion was made by Neubauer and seconded by Moreland.

Finally, the council authorized a blanket purchase order to Superior Excavating of Auburn Hills, Michigan, to install a stormwater treatment device in the alley behind Brooklyn Plaza along the Auburn Road corridor. The base amount was $77,130 with a 10% project contingency of $7,713 for a total not to exceed $84,843. The motion was made by Neubauer and seconded by Moreland.

All four items were presented as budgeted or within available funds; presenters indicated competitive selection or prior contracting in each case. Each item passed by a voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies reported in the meeting minutes.
