Staff seeks $10,000 contingency increase for College Estates Park restroom contract

He described two change orders that have increased the cost pressure on the contingency: Contract Change Order 1, a $29,750 replacement of a collapsed sewer line discovered during demolition; and a pending Contract Change Order 2, a $14,500 relocation of electrical service required by Southern California Edison.
Gambino said the sewer line deterioration was not visible until the restroom foundation was removed and that the relocation of the power pedestal is shown in project photos. He described the additional contingency as intended to cover the presently needed change order and "any future minor requirements to complete the project." The project will use a prefabricated Exilu restroom to replace the previous unusable restroom and utility room.
Staff reported there are sufficient appropriations in the project budget. Gambino said the public restroom improvement project (C2305) is funded with approximately $1.5 million from the General Fund and $1,000,000 in Measure O funds, for a total allocation of about $2.5 million in fiscal year 2024-25. "There's sufficient budget appropriations to fund this change order increase," he added.
