Council adopts resolution supporting Visit Granbury’s tourism-friendly designation application

The Granbury City Council on Aug. 19 unanimously adopted Resolution No. 25-12 evidencing the city’s support for Visit Granbury’s application for the tourism-friendly community designation through the Texas Governor’s Office Economic Development and Tourism Division.
City staff said the designation recognizes cities that promote tourism and can provide statewide recognition and promotional opportunities. The resolution is a required component of the application; staff told the council there is no financial impact from adoption.
Tammy (presenter identified in the transcript as the staff member leading the application steps) told the council Visit Granbury met the program’s criteria and the resolution is the final step in the application process. City Manager Chris Kaufman described the certification effort as complementary to other city recognitions (music-friendly and film-friendly city designations) and said the city is pursuing tourism designation as an additional credential.
Councilmember motions to adopt the resolution were made and seconded and the mayor announced the vote passed 6-0.
Staff indicated they will include the council resolution in Visit Granbury’s application and seek supporting letters from other community organizations as part of the broader submission process. The council did not identify any fiscal consequences to adopting the resolution.
