District says new multipurpose and career-technical facilities are ready to occupy after final walk-throughs; some finish work remains

Chester County School District staff told the board that the new agricultural/automotive and multipurpose facilities have certificates of occupancy and are nearing use, but several finish items and training remain before full operations.
“We have the certificate of occupancy. So we can go in and set the places up, install what equipment we need to install,” a district staff member said. The multipurpose space has already been used by teams for indoor practice, and district staff said the planned move-in window is sometime after Labor Day, pending completion of final items including Internet connections.
Staff outlined remaining items found in preliminary walk-throughs. On the ag/auto facility there are issues with flooring and vestibules that need correction; in the multipurpose facility, staff said AstroTurf training and equipment care (including a provided rake for the rubber infill) remain to be scheduled. On-site packages for vehicle lifts have been delivered but not yet installed, and staff said they bought three lifts for the automotive shop, one of which includes front-end alignment capability paid for by a prior CTE grant.
District staff described arrangements with postsecondary partners: TCAT Jackson will manage evening classes in the future and TCAT Crump had originally funded initial welding equipment. The district said it added a part-time welding instructor and a part-time collision repair instructor to meet demand; staff reported more than 90 students had signed up for welding.
Staff also described safety and inspection steps: the fire marshal conducted repeated checks to support occupancy, and the district replaced electrical breakers as needed. Board members asked about OSHA certification and inspection of lifts; staff said instructors have been involved in the process and outside contractors have not yet been contracted for specific equipment certifications.
District staff said they will schedule final walk-throughs and vendor trainings next week and address identified finish items before full use.
