South River Board approves consent package, facilities use and financial reports; authorizes payment of bills

The South River Board of Education on Aug. 18 approved a consent resolution that bundled routine personnel, grant, contract and facility items; voted to authorize district facility use requests; certified the June financial reports and approved payment of presented bills. The board later moved into a closed executive session to discuss attorney-client privileged matters.

The board first approved minutes from the July 21 premeeting and the July 24 regular meeting after a motion by Vice President Nielsen and a second by Mrs. Sadowski. The board then voted to approve multiple use-of-facilities requests “in accordance with board policies,” with one abstention noted on two listed facility items (items 849 and 857); the abstention was recorded in the meeting but the transcript does not identify the member who abstained.

The board certified the June financial reports after a motion by Mrs. Lehi and a second by Mr. Bezak; the finance committee had recommended approval, stating that no major accounts were overexpended and that sufficient funds are available to meet district obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. The finance committee and administration also reported on the agenda’s finance-related items, including multiple grant approvals and service contracts.
