Clear Creek Board appoints Colton Roeloff interim county manager

The Clear Creek County Board of County Commissioners appointed Colton Roeloff as interim county manager on Aug. 19, naming the deputy county manager to the temporary post while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement.

The board said the search will take “around two months at least,” during which Roeloff will oversee day-to-day operations and report to the commissioners. Commissioners also disclosed a temporary pay increase and an adjustment to PTO approval for the interim assignment.

Roeloff, who took the podium to accept the appointment, said he would “focus on getting us through this interim period efficiently and just holding this course as steady as possible” while continuing work on the board’s priorities.

Commissioners thanked Roeloff and emphasized they expected staff to flag capacity limits and report back on priorities that may be affected during the transition. The board said it intends to solicit staff and elected leaders’ input on the qualifications it will seek in the next county manager.

The motion to appoint Roeloff was moved and seconded during the Aug. 19 meeting; the board voted in favor.

The board also confirmed it will begin an external recruitment for the manager role immediately and encouraged public input on what the county should look for in the next hire.

The appointment is effective immediately. The board did not set a specific closing date for the recruitment during the meeting.
