City engineer: Legacy Park bids nearly ready; staff to add optional items including RV pedestals and conduit

City Engineer Eric Dursteller told the council that Legacy Park plans are complete and bid documents are nearly ready. He said staff would include additional items as alternates rather than base-bid items so the city can choose later whether to fund them.
Council members suggested adding underground conduit and power pedestals (RV pedestals) as alternate bid items so infrastructure is in place for future electrical needs and to avoid later pavement cuts. Dursteller agreed to include such items as add-ons in the bid package rather than as base work.
Dursteller also reported the Deep Canyon Trailhead restroom is expected to arrive and be installed in mid-August; asphalt and final site prep were scheduled to follow installation. He reminded council that having conduit and other underground infrastructure installed during construction would be more cost-effective than later trenching.
