School staff outline student-led "house" system and mentorship plan; house party and community lunches planned

Planned activities include a house party (presenters said it was scheduled for the following day at 4 p.m.), monthly community lunches hosted by each house, "Panther Claws" weekly activities on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4 p.m., and K'2 mentorship pairings that link older students with elementary students in the same house. Presenters said seventh graders will be "sorted" into houses during the house party and student leaders have already been contacting incoming seventh-graders to build connections.
Staff members noted they presented the house model at the Principal Leadership Academy in Laramie, drawing roughly 70 principals from across the state and receiving requests for follow-up from other districts. The presenters said the house system is intended to grow and evolve, and thanked the board for support.
No board action was required during the presentation; the board heard the overview as part of regular meeting business.
