Audit committee chair says partial novation may let district avoid new RFP for external auditor

Committee members said they had received information from legal counsel indicating that a partial novation agreement was being drafted for signature by the parties to the current contract. If that novation is agreed to and the supporting documentation is acceptable, committee members said legal advised it could preserve use of the existing contract’s extension provisions and the district could avoid conducting a new RFP for the upcoming year.
The committee asked to be updated as legal receives signed novation documentation. No final decision was recorded at the workshop; the audit committee said it would report further as the novation process proceeds.
