Council reviews $90,000 Triangle Foundation grant to study Main and Vine streetscape

Councilmember LaGree asked for an overview of item FF, and Brandy Peacher summarized a $90,000 grant from the Triangle Foundation to fund a downtown streetscape study focused on Main Street and Vine Street (excluding Town Branch Commons).
"This money is purposely for a study or a plan to look at Main Street and Vine Street, not including the Town Branch Commons side," Peacher said, adding that the work will consider pedestrian, bike and driving experiences and seek a cohesive look for plantings, amenities and wayfinding signage.
Peacher said staff will coordinate with the ongoing downtown master plan, work with key downtown stakeholders, and intends to release a request for proposals later this summer with a hope to wrap up the plan this year though completion depends on consultant timelines.
Councilmember LaGree thanked staff and the Triangle Foundation. No formal action was taken at the work session; the item was discussed as part of new business and staff described next steps including an RFP and coordination with the master plan.
