Greene County’s Public Works committee met Monday, Aug. 11, and heard a project update from Highway Superintendent Scott Templeton before approving several construction-related resolutions and moving into executive session on real estate.
Templeton told the committee the department is progressing on multiple road and culvert projects and aims to finalize right-of-way work for County Route 61. “We're hoping to finalize the counter 1 61 right away, and that's why we put the authorization to go out to bid, advertise, go out to bid,” Templeton said. He also reported culvert replacement, scour repair and ongoing paving work across the mountain top and valley sections of the county road network.
During the resolutions portion of the meeting the committee approved a package of actions related to a new maintenance building at the Catskill Transfer Station and other capital work. The chair read motions that the board approved without recorded opposing votes. Actions taken included authorizing advertisement for replacement of County Route 61 River Road Bridge over Kooksaki Creek (PIN 3-30291-0), approving professional services and contractor awards for the Catskill Transfer Station new maintenance building, and establishing multiple capital project numbers and an authorized property purchase.

Templeton also described plans for community engagement on a Leeds-area project, saying the department plans an on-site meeting or information session before Labor Day if logistics permit, and said he would provide members with a paving map showing locations and process types. “We can provide that to you,” Templeton said when asked for a paving diagram that shows where paving will occur and what techniques will be used.
