The Clayton County Board of Education voted unanimously July 28 to accept Superintendent Anthony Smith's recommendations to fill several school leadership positions and to appoint a coordinator of instructional technology.
The board accepted the superintendent’s recommendation to name Monica Ward principal of Oliver Elementary School and approved a string of assistant principal appointments, including Britney Lee at Martha Ellen Stillwell School of the Arts; Nakia Young at Eddie White Middle School Academy; Juan Moore at Eddie White Middle School Academy; and Dr. Kenneth Ware at Kemp Primary. The board also appointed Frankie Kerr as coordinator of instructional technology. All personnel votes were recorded as unanimous.
The actions followed the superintendent’s presentation of the candidates and brief board motions to accept the recommendations. Board members moved and seconded each nomination in turn. After each motion, the chair called for a vote and the board recorded unanimous approval of each recommendation.
