Lake County supervisors name county representative and alternate to Area Agency on Aging governing board; appoint deputy director Amy Shemansky

Dina Eddings, program coordinator for the Area Agency on Aging, told the board the proposal reflects the existing joint-powers structure with Mendocino County. "This came up because of issues that we've had with the joint powers agreement with Mendocino County for the Area Agency on Aging governing board," Eddings said. She explained that in Mendocino the board appoints one supervisor and an alternate and includes a deputy of adult services as the staff representative; Lake County staff recommended mirroring that arrangement and suggested Amy Shemansky for the staff seat.
Social Services Director Rachel Dillman Parsons appeared at the meeting and confirmed staff support for the appointments. No public commenters spoke on the item during the open comment period.
A motion to designate a supervisor and alternate to serve on the AAA governing board passed by voice vote. A separate motion to appoint Amy Shemansky as Lake County’s staff representative also passed by voice vote.
The board did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript for either vote. The transcript shows the board’s decision was reached during the regular agenda with the named appointee present online but not taking public comments.
The designation preserves the county’s current representation structure under the joint-powers arrangement with Mendocino County and names Shemansky, in her role as Deputy Director of Social Services, as the county’s second staff member on the AAA governing board.
Future meetings or board communications will be the venue for any change to Lake County’s representation on the governing board.
