Menomonee Falls planning staff set Sept. 9 open house as 2025 comprehensive plan nears final draft

Bennett said the comprehensive plan effort began in early 2024 with extensive public engagement — including a community survey and focus groups — and that the plan must include nine required elements such as housing, transportation and land use. She said a public open house is scheduled for Sept. 9 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the village boardroom; the full draft (in formatted layout) will be available at that event and on the village website.
Bennett told trustees that the Plan Commission will conduct a public hearing with a 30‑day notice period before making a recommendation; tentative village board review and potential action are scheduled for the Dec. 1 board meeting. The open house will use a walk‑in board format rather than a formal presentation so attendees can review maps and ask staff questions.
Trustees and commission members said the proposed land‑use map includes notable changes in some commercial areas — for example, areas near the Home Depot site were reexamined for future character and zoning because that corridor has seen limited redevelopment — and trustees were encouraged to attend the Sept. 9 open house to review full‑size maps and ask questions.
Bennett said all Plan Commission presentations and draft chapters are posted on the village comprehensive plan webpage and that staff and the consultant will be available at the open house to answer questions.
No formal board action was taken; the presentation was informational and sets the public‑engagement steps that will precede formal plan adoption.
