The Town of Waynesville recognized employee Aaliyah Cagle for lifesaving actions during a May 22 medical emergency.
A representative of the Windsor Police Department (presenting on behalf of local law-enforcement partners) asked Cagle to step forward and described how her quick action, remaining with the coworker and assisting until paramedics arrived, contributed to saving a life. The presenter said the Waynesville Police Department confers the Lifesaving Chiefs Award on employees who, while serving in their official capacity, perform a distinct and successful life-saving act. "While a fellow coworker was experiencing a medical emergency, immediate action assistance and remaining by the coworker's side until paramedics arrived aided in saving a life," the presenter said.
The council had earlier moved to amend the agenda to add the recognition; that agenda amendment was approved by voice vote. Council and staff thanked Cagle for her actions.
No further formal action was required beyond the recognition; the award was presented and accepted during the meeting.
